The Leaves are Turning

here in the northeast reminding us that another year is coming to a close. But the weather is near perfect for riding, even if it is only for a few weeks of the year!
It has not been the great year 2008 was for us but then that is "life in the fast lane" with horses!
One minute I'm flying high on my way to Burghley the next I'm home nursing my wounds both physical and mental!! I'm still not sure what really went wrong or if indeed it was just any one particular thing but I think I can say that 2009 was a "slump" year! And absolutely nothing to do with old age.
Anyway 2010 is another year and we are looking forward to fun and sun in Aiken as we return to my good friend Priscilla's property in Windsor on Boggy Gut Road!

Winding Down in Aiken and Heading West

Although rumor has it snow was falling in Lexington KY recently I'm sure it will be gone by the time we get there, it better be!

Another rumor has it that there is no snow left in Massachusetts, but there is some mud....

Most of Dobbin's mates are now back there, in the mud, so he sends them his good wishes and says he'll be back when the grass is ready!

Camp Ashton, Aiken, SC

We left the white stuff behind and set up camp in Aiken SC and would love to share it with you!

We are taking lots of side trips and enjoying all the local facilities. It is great experience for the young 'uns. With the sand between their toes they can splash in the water, hop on and off banks, pop over ditches in a different place on a daily basis, then go show off their talents at the many local shows, sanctioned and unsanctioned.
Come check us out!

Dobbin is 2008 USEA Horse of the Year

Dobbin was born brilliant and in 2008 he left no one in any doubt, he won more than any other horse in the country and earned the prestigious title of Horse of the Year or HOTY award.

Since then he has been living the life of Riley, although hanging out in the snow in Massachusetts quickly got old, and rather cold. So we headed south for the sun and sand.

So a new year ahead with new challenges to look forward to, but first let's get rid of winter. Not to mention that pesky little donkey...
